How to avoid number localization in epigraphs

Hi community:

I have a tricky issue with numbering and localization:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing incorrect numbering format with 5,3. and 5,3.1 instead of 5.3. and 5.3.1.

Those 5,3. and 5,3.1 should be 5.3. and 5.3.1. as they are numerical headings or numbered sections, not actual numbers - they need to be kept as they are in the source.

My TM settings, Trados 2021:

Screenshot of Trados Studio Number Formats settings with Thousand Separator and Decimal Separator options.

Screenshot of Trados Studio TM settings with checkboxes for Dates, Times, Numbers, Acronyms, Variables, Alphanumeric strings, and Measurements.

Is there a way to avoid the TM localizing those numeric epigraphs - without having to uncheck the Number recognition at all?

Thanks in advance,

Almudena

should I conclude, there is no way to change the settings in TM to do not recognize those as numbers?

Well... I think it' a bit tricky to recognise these separators as thousands and decimals for numbers which are clearly not real numbers.  What would 5.3.1 really be for example.  So I would say no, it's not possible.  What you could do is use the Terminjector (appstore) perhaps to recognise this pattern and substitute the TM result with the pattern you want when you pre-translate.

Pre-processing projects like that is not always an option

Why not?  You could use the SDLXLIFF Toolkit for example and then do this pre- or post- pretranslation, but before you make the files available to your translators.  You can also do this for multiple files in a project or even multiple projects.
