Have you perhaps noticed that Autosuggest feature in Trados 2022, despite setting it to provide suggestions after one character, gets a bit lazy and offers them as late as after 3-4 characters?
No such behaviour in Trados 2017.

No such behaviour in Trados 2017.
It works fine for me in Trados Studio 2022 (17.0.4.13209).
Could you please you have this setting in File > Options > AutoSuggest?:
