Hello! I received 2 csv files, but Trados won't create a project for me because the files are defined as "not translatable". Can someone help?
Paul, you asked me to provide the first few lines of the file? Here 
is a screenshot, but there are may columns (all the alphabet letters and until AG), so the screenshot is not complete on the right side... what else?
What are the file names? What kind of separator is being used... comma, semi-colon, tab for example?
Also, is there a reason why you want to handle them as CSV or could you handle them as Excel?

Hi Paul, I asked the customer (through the agency), but in the other file these seem to be semicolons as separators (see this other screenshot here).

This was a question for you. You can handle the file in Excel instead of as a CSV and then still hand a CSV back to your customer. I asked because the CSV filetype offers some features you won't see with Excel... that is why I asked. No need to ask this question to your customer.

I think you need to look at this in a text editor, not in Excel!

Oh... I'm lost. I already opened the files in Excel, but Trados does not accept them as translatable files.
I have no idea of the features you mention... I just need to work the files in Trados.
How can I see the file in a text editor? They are automatically opened in Excel when I open them.
And I see both commas and semicolons as separators... but I tell you, I feel like I am moving in a completely dark room!
Can you provide me with a copy of your CSV, or a small snippet of it... the first dozen lines for example? You can email it to pfilkin at sdl dotcom if that's ok..

Paul, the scenario has changed. The client sent normal Excel files now, he had sent the csv files by mistake - and this is the good news.
The bad news is that the Excel files have many columns and, if I create a normal project in Trados, the Editor shows only some of them, randomly.
So now the quesiton is: how can I have all the text in all the columns in a Trados project to be normally translated in the Editor?

Hi Paul, sorry for taking some time to answer, but the client sent Excel files and, since they are very big, I decided I will copy each column onto a Word file and process them from there, so there won't be other complications.
I guess there is a method to select the columns to be translated, but one of the files has 33 columns (and the other 9) and it's a long process anyway... right?

You really should not have to do this.

Wrong. By default all the columns will be extracted for translation, and if you want to hide some you just hide them in Excel before you prepare your project. If you save a copy of a file, delete everything apart from the top 10 rows for example, and send it to me I'll show you how to handle it.
