Steps to upgrade from Trados Studio 2019 Freelance to Studio 2022 Freelance plus

Dear Trados Team, 

I have just purchased the upgrade from Trados Studio 2019 Freelance to Studio 2022 Freelance plus.

I know there are various steps to perform now, and I would like to be sure that I understood them correctly, and in the right order:

1) First, deactivate my current Trados Studio 2019 licence; it has to be done on Studio 2019 software

2) Update my licence(s) from my RWS account: this will generate the new code licence(s)

3) Download the Studio 2022 Freelance plus software, from my RWS account

4) Copy the new code licence into my Studio 2022 Freelance plus software.

Is this the right order? Am I missing some steps?

    Hi  

    Deactivating Trados 2019 is not a necessary step for a Freelance license, but please note that once you process the upgrade, you won't be able to use Trados 2019 anymore, so please make sure you save any ongoing projects.

    The upgrade can be processed from your account, Products and Plans - Licenses. The remaining steps are correct.

    Dear Elisa,

    Thank you, I am ready now to proceed with the upgrade from Trados Studio 2019 to Studio 2022.

    I would like to proceed with the upgrade on a new laptop that I recently bought, but my current Trados Studio 2019 to be upgraded is installed on my old laptop.

    1) Can I proceed with the download of Studio 2022 on my new laptop, or do I have to download it first on my old one, where Studio 2019 is installed? As I purchased a Studio 2022 Freelance plus package, I should be able to activate on both laptops, right?

    2) Another question: on my RWS Account, should I start with the download and then move to “Licenses & Subscriptions”, click on the 1 upgrade available to upgrade my licences, or is it viceversa? (upgrade first and the proceed with the download?)

    3) As I purchased the upgrade to Studio 2022 Freelance plus on 28/12/2022, Am I still in time to proceed with the upgrade? (I hope so..)

    Hi  

    1) You can install and activate Trados 2022 directly on the new laptop. If you have Freelance Plus, you can install and activate on a second PC/laptop as well.

    2) The logical order would be to first process the upgrade and then to download, install the program and then activate it using the activation code generated for Trados 2022. But it does not matter if you first download and install the program and only afterwards process the upgrade. The program will run in trial mode until you activate it.

    3) There is no deadline to process the upgrade, but please note that once you do, you won't be able to use Trados 2019 anymore, so please finish and save any ongoing projects.
