Hello,
Our team and I are working as project managers and translators/reviewers and have different Trados versions. I have the 2019 Pro version, while most of the team has the 2021 version.
Everything used to work fine for all of us, we used to be able to handle all supported file types. But for a few months now, I've been having trouble exporting target Excel files with my 2019 version (I see this is a reccurring issue, apparently, so I wonder if something changed in Trados or Excel recently, that could explain this?).
I completed the translation but could not export due to the general "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. As for other members of this community, restarting or resaving the file did not help. I thought it was maybe a one-off ocurrence but now I can't export any Excel file, to be sure I've tried creating simple Excel files from scratch and working in them in Studio but the second I want to export I get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error, which makes it impossible to work!
And the funny thing is, whenever a colleague of mine that has Trados 2021 creates the project for me with the exact same Excel file (or extracts the text to a new file they created as I used to), it just works! Even though I work in their project, as long as they created it, not me, we can export it at the end. So now I have to ask them to create projects for me all day long since most of my customers use Excel. Not very practical in the long run.
In the past, a colleague had seen a post suggesting to move the order of the tabs in the Excel file, save it and try again, but that didn't work for me either, so I'd be grateful if anyone has a solution.
Funny enough, the opposite things seems to happen to my colleagues with Powerpoint files. Quite often, when a project is created, they can't save the PPT as target, but I can... I don't know what's going on these days with the MS formats, but it's highly unpractical on a daily basis…
Thanks in advance for the help!
