Import of user profile

Hi, I have a new computer. I deactivated my  Trados 2021 licence  after a backup from the old one and activated it on the new one. So far so good. But, I don't manage to change the user's profile. I select the SDLPROFILE document that I have from the backup. Trados says the import is done, However I see NONE of my projects... How can I do to get them back? Thanks !

Your user profile does NOT contain any information about your termbases, translation memories and projects. All this information is stored elsewhere. The location of TBs and TMs is stored in each project, while the projects are stored in a file called projects.xml. You can find it in your Documents\Studio 2021\Projects. You could simply copy this file from this location to either Documents\Studio 2022\Projects or Documents\Trados\Projects, whichever is present in your computer. However, this may also cause problems due differences for example in the project templates or file types. As all your projects are stored as files on your computer, the best way to get them in Studio 2022 is to open them one by one there (you only need to open projects you are working on, old projects do not need to be in the list). To do so:

    • Go to Projects view
    • Select "Open project" from the menu bar or press CTRL+O (if you did not change any default shortcuts)
    • Navigate to the folder your first project is stored in
    • Select the *.sdlproj file there
    • Your project will open
    • Repeat for all necessary projects

    Other way

    • Navigate to any project folder you wish
    • Double click the *.sdlproj file there

If you do not see file name extensions, show them as described here: support.microsoft.com/.../common-file-name-extensions-in-windows-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
