I have re-installed Trados on a reformatted laptop and I still can't work with idml files. Trados crashed suddenly and without warning, nothing I translate gets saved. I've ticked the 'unsupported file' option, Trados crashes after that.
Out of frustration, I installed Trados on another machine to test if the problem persists and it does, every time I try. I have never worked with idml files before, so I guess the Trados version is corrupted (Studio 2021

Thank you for providing this suggestion. I have just tried it and Trados Studio shut down immediately after opening the idml file:
I tried again and double checked the settings, they are as in the solution you provided (with unsupported files ticked as well). Unfortunately, Studio stops working every time I open idml files.
I'd be grateful for any other ideas.
