Uploading word file in the target language part

Question

Hi, 
 I need some help. 
 The agency I sent the completed translated file made some corrections and returned it, and I would like to upload this file with the corrections in the target language segment of the project while keeping the source text untouched (if possible), so I do not have to search word after word to complete the corrections in Trados as well. How to do that?

 I'm going to hazard a guess you just want to know how to use Retrofit. This is designed for the usecase you have explained in your original post, but only as long as it's a bit of light editing. It's not designed for heavy changes to the file. 
 To use Retrofit just make sure your project is active and then run the batch task "Update from Reviewed Target File (Retrofit)". The description is this: 
 "Updates the *.sdlxliff files with the changes made to the target documents during review. After the changes are imported, you can review the updates in the Editor view using tracked changes. Optionally you can also check and correct the retrofit results in Alignment view before opening them in the Editor." 
 That seems to fit the description of what you're looking for. There' a video here that explains quite well how it works: 
 
 If the target file has much bigger changes then the retrofit process might fail. It's worth taking a copy of your project first and then trying is anyway as it sometimes handles even big changes surprisingly well. But if it fails then come back and we can try a different approach.

 I need to understand what you want to achieve. Can you answer the following please... 
 When you write 'I would like to upload this file...' 
 Do you mean, specifically... 
 - just replace the file that you can see in Trados when you translated it as a single file? - make it part of an existing project, to replace the completed translation file so you can see it in Trados? - import it into a translation memory so that the corrected target text replaces the previously completed target text? 
 There are a lot of things that are not obvious to users who are new to Trados, or unfamiliar with Windows Explorer and how Trados saves everything you can see in Trados to a place on your computer/a server visible/accessible separately via Windows Explorer. 
 I don't want to give you a jargon-filled reply that may not be understandable or fit the question you have put... 
 Once I understand your level of knowledge of Trados/jargon, I can better answer your question.
