Can you do anything else with your TM such as export to TMX?

Also worth doing a reset as a matter of course... that often clears up errors.  To do this just close Trados Studio and then rename this folder:

c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0\

to c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0_old\

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

www.howtogeek.com/.../

Then restart Trados Studio and see if that helped.

Many thanks for your reply. I am able to create a TMX of the TM without any problems. I have also done the reset like you suggested, but it's still giving me the same error. Do you have any other ideas of what I could try?

It might be the project file given the TM seems ok.  You should be able to import the sdlxliff into your TM directly in the Translation Memories view.

Then try recreating your project from scratch and then either pre-translate from your TM or replace the target sdlxliff in the new project with the one from the old project to get your translations back, and then save the target.

If you've already completed your project you might even be able to simply open the sdlxliff as a new project using the single file project workflow and then just save target.

Thanks again for your reply. It was now possible to update the TM but when Studio tried to generate the target file (Excel) it gave the following error: 

"Filter definition 'Excel 2007 v 2.0.0.0' not found or could not be used to construct a generator."

Do you maybe have some ideas about this as well?

It sounds as though you have a different version of Trados to the person who created the original project.  In this case you won't be able to recreate a target file but your customer/colleague will.

Thanks again for your reply. Unfortunately, I'm the one who created the project in the first place. Then I sent a project package to a freelancer after which it was proofread by one of my colleagues. They were unable to generate the target file and thought I would probably be able to as I'm the one who created the project. 

Do you maybe have any other ideas as to what it could be?

In this case I would recreate the project now and then pre-translate from my TM and save the target file.

I'm not sure why this would happen... possibly related to working with old project templates after upgrading... but I'd be guessing. In 2019 the Excel filetypes are not the ones you have shown... they are these:

SpreadsheetML v. 1
XLS v 3.0.0.0

So if Trados Studio is looking for this older version it suggests the sdlxliff was created from a version of Studio using the older version of the fietype.

Thanks again for your reply. Unfortunately, the problem still hasn't been solved. When I recreated the project it gave me this error message again: 'Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object'.

If you can send me the original Excel file, and your fully translated SDLXLIFF I can take a look?  Send them to pfilkin at sdl dotcom if that's ok?
