Possibility to Export TM User ID

Hello everyone

I was wondering if there is an option to export all available TM User ID from a TM?

Context: We have external translators wo translate documents for us without an internal revision. After getting back the sdlxliff files or the project packages, we import the segments into our main TM. Now, we would like to set a penalty (e. g. 3 %) for all the TUs created by our external resources. You can apply such settings under the filter option in the project template (OR rule):

Trados Studio Project Settings window showing Filter Penalties section with a penalty of 3% set for translation units last modified by 'username1', 'username2', or 'username3'.

But to do so, we would need a list of all TM User ID in our main TM.

Any hints are much appreciated.

Many thanks

Seraina

  •   your idea is the correct way in addressing this.
I see from your screen print you are also in the right area of the solution to implement such a penalty.

To see a list of your TM contributors you need to assess the actual TM and evaluate the created by fields. You can do this in the Translation Memory Maintenance view, open your TM.

Approach this based on the shortest list. Example you have a trusted list of only 5 contributors vs unknown number who's translations were not validated.
So therefore your filters and penalties will apply to all BUT the 5 listed, which is manageable.

    That said, you mention

After getting back the sdlxliff files or the project packages, we import the segments into our main TM.

I fear your goal may not be easy to manage as TM's were not updated by the contributors themselves.
I suspect the translated segments will be associated to you and its then not possible to trace back original contributor of of translation.
One of the problems not working with central live TM'

If however you updated translation memories AND also amended the USER TM ID - then your goal is achievable

Trados Studio settings window showing Translation Memory Updates section with 'Use information from bilingual file to update TU system fields' checked and 'TM User ID...' highlighted.

  • Hi

Thank you very much for getting back so fast.

Is there an automated way to evaluate our TM regarding the "created by" / "modified by" / "used by" fields?

It is indeed easier to create a list of the "trusted translators". But how can I reverse the filter then to make sure it applies only to the "non trusted IDs"?

Regarding the update of the TM: This should not be a problem in our case as our Translation Managers perform this task and we can include their IDs in the penalty list (or exclude them in case of applying a reverse filter).

Thanks a lot for your support.

    Best regards

    Seraina
