how to update the anytmreverse file alone with the original tm file?

trados studio 2017

I'm translating from CN to EN. I have created my main TM call it "CN-EN.sdltm".

now I need to translate from EN to CN. so I used the anytm feature by using my old main TM "CN-EN.sdltm", Trados automatically made a "CN-EN.anytmreverse.sdltm". It's been all good so far.

problem is, somewhere down the line in a new project I needed to translate from EN to CN. I used the "CN-EN.anytmreverse.sdltm" without also selecting my main TM "CN-EN.sdltm". now my main TM is not up to date along with the anytmreverse file. how do I fix this? is there a way to include the "CN-EN.sdltm" in the current project so it gets updated as I work? or maybe I can update the "CN-EN.sdltm" manually in the Translation Memory View tab? how do i prevent this from happening in the future?

The first point to note is an important one.  When you work with AnyTM you should only ever select your CN-EN.sdltm translation memory.  AnyTM will take care of everything else irrespective of which language direction you use.  You should never select the CN-EN.anytmreverse.sdltm translation memory.

It won't break anything, but you might start creating more anytmreverse memories and you will definitely end up with the problem of being out of date as you are now.

    how do I fix this?

The solution to update is simple.  Export your CN-EN.anytmreverse.sdltm as a TMX and then import it into your CN-EN.sdltm.  It wouldn't hurt to do it the other way around as well to make sure they contain identical content.
