Is it possible to disable XML/HTML conversion of entities?

Dear community,

I am translating xhtml files from English to German in Studio 2014 and German special characters and other characters like n-dashes are converted to entities.

However, the client does not want entities in the files, ie: ü should be displayed as ü in the final German xhtml files.

Is there any setting in Studio 2014 to disable the conversion of special characters into entities?
Or is there any batch processing integrated into Studio 2014 to convert entities into "real" characters?

Any hint is welcome. Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Stefan

  • Hi Stefan,

Did you try disabling the entity conversion option on the xhtml filetype?

  • Hello Paul,

    Thank you for your response.

I have to admit that I am not too familiar with the filetype settings.

However, I assume you are talking about this option in the project settings:

in the meantime, the client provided a workaround that works for them.

Now, I get my files prepared as ttx files and I work in TagEditor, no longer Studio 2014.
After the translation, the following options are used to clean up the files:

And these produced German xhtml files can even be opened in any webbrowser.

The settings windows in Studio look almost the same but somehow, the xhtml files I get with Studio, always contain entities and not real characters.

As I am in the middle of the project right now, I prefer to work with the workaround for the time being.
I am sure there is a way to get this to work in Studio, but my lack of knowledge and time constraints prohibit me to "play around" with these settings and files right now.

However, once I find the time, I will try to get this to work.

Once again, thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    Stefan
