Quick Access Toolbar

Hello,

On my first project in Studio 2015, quick access toolbar is a great addition, not a great fan of ribbons, my quick access toolbars in Office applications, especially Word, are well used. one  thing I have noticed is that every time I open Studio again, the toolbar jumps back above the ribbon (I prefer it below). Has anyone else noticed this?

  • Hi,
I'm still experiencing this same problem with the quick access toolbar, which jumps back above the ribbon.
Added to this, the sequence of my icons keeps on being randomly reshuffled after I press OK.
Are SDL aware of this issue and planning a fix?
    Thanks,
    Sam
  • Hi Sam,

On the QAT not staying where you put it... known issue and will be addressed in a future release. On the reshufling... what do I have to do in order to reproduce this? I added a load, took a screenshot of where they were, clicked ok and there was no change. Restarted Studio and there as no change.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Many thanks for your prompt response.

I'm happy to hear the fix for the jumping QAT is on its way.

My issue with the icon reshuffling occurs in the Editor window.

For example, I'll add an option, such as 'Save', position it using 'Up'/'Down', then click OK to find that my sequence has been changed.

A similar thing happens if I try to change the existing sequence using 'Up'/'Down': after I quit Studio and restart, the icons are reordered.

Here's a snapshot of my current QAT:

Maybe I've got a corrupt file somewhere. However, I wouldn't want to reinstall Studio 2015, as everything else is now working exactly as I like it, and this is a relatively minor annoyance in the scheme of things!

    Thanks again,

    Sam

PS. Sorry - used Rich Text formatting in my reply, but the snapshot disappeared!

You can't paste it in... you need to save it to your desktop or somewhere and then upload the image using this:

ok - tried it in the Editor View speciically.  I don't have a problem here either.  Maybe you didn't install Studio with admin rights and the settings is not being written to correctly, or maybe try running it with admin rights?

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. Here's the snapshot of my shuffled icons:

Thanks also for the suggestions. I tried launching Studio with 'Run as Administrator', but the shuffling continues. It just changes my preferred sequence. Bizarre.

As I mentioned, I'm loathe to reinstall Studio (this time with Admin privileges), as I'm otherwise very happy with the current configuration and functionality.

Once the jumping QAT is fixed, that'll be an improvement and I can put up with my quirky QAT.

Many thanks again for your help,

    Sam
