If there is no way to identify these segments that are "Trade Law" for example, other than by inspection and your ability to "know" what they are; then I think the only way to handle this, other than having a developer create a plugin to support such a process, would be to do this using SQLite.  The best way to tackle that would be to use DB Browser for SQLite or some commercial tool if you already have one and then batch apply the field value using a SQLite script.

I think you could probably use Trados Studio for the refined view and then use a script to apply the field values to the segment IDs you want to apply it to.  That could be a range of values.

Is that something you think you would be prepared to try?

The idea would then be to manually identify all the segments I listed for "Trade Law" and then run a query where I isolate those segments into the query and apply to them a condition. Is that correct ?

Correct.  So you could work through them in Studio where it's easy to see, then make a note of all the segment IDs and the appropriate field value, then use a SQL script to apply them.  If you were feeling really adventurous you could probably have the script generated by what's in your spreadsheet (if you chose Excel as the medium for noting down the segments) and then do it all in one go.
