Sorry, I'm asking if I can avoid reopening the Messages window, this is not about tag verification settings.

Maybe you didn’t have the checkbox Perform lookup when active segment changes ticked in Options > Editor > Automation:

It’s checked by default.

I always untick it when verifying and tick it back when done, but I’ll consider Jerzy’s idea to unpin and move the Messages window.

Thank you, I'll also try that. However, this is ticked in my version of Studio 2021 as well and still the window change doesn't happen. I'll hold onto the hope that there might be a way to stop Studio from doing it, eventually :)

You might be right after all, and this has changed, as I don’t remember so many backs and forths in the past with the Messages window losing focus…

No wonder, as this is the desired behavior. When this box is activated, the TM is searched when you go to another segment. Unchecking this box renders the CAT function in Studio unusable, at least for the translation process. As Jesùs stated, he switches this off only for the REVISION process to prevent Studio from looking up in the TM. But it is much easier to have the messages window fixed in a certain place on your screen instead of switching this option on and off again and again. In my case I have two screens and Studio looks like this:
