The source text may be copying to the target by default. How do I change this please, so that the target follows the language settings (target set to US English)? Thanks.

Hi Annabelle,
I posted you an image just now that showed how Project Settings can be set up so that Source copies to Target during project setup.
The same setting exists under File>Options but would not affect a project that had not had this option ticked under Project Settings. It would only copy Source to Target in projects you set up yourself or if you were opening a single file.
Also, the option in that image would only affect files on project creation OR on pretranslation of a file (which can also be performed after project creation) - but it would not copy Source to Target as you type.
Here is an image showing the setting that copies Source to Target as you type, accessed only via File>Options (this cannot be set in the project settings):
With the above box ticked, you will find that when you place your cursor into an empty Target segment, if there is no translation match, the Source text will be inserted instead.
All the best,
Ali

Hi there, I am using Studio 2021 and have this issue: when I set the option File > Options > Editor > Project Settings > Automation > Copy source when no match is found, it just does not work, and I have to resort to use the Ctrl+Ins keys to do the job, which is really annoying. I have tried to set the option, cancel it, and reset it also opening and closing Studio, but it doesn't work. I have also tried to set it via Segment action, with the same (non) result. Any hints? Thanks a lot!
Hi Adriana,
First of all, take a look here:
Go through the instructions to ensure you have everything set up as it should be.
If your settings are correct, I don't know why this isn't working for you. Please create a new post then someone from the Help Team can set up a case to look at your settings and find out why this isn't working for you (you have to set up a new thread to be able to get a case number and contact Studio help).
In the meantime, you could try using the following setting and running the Pre-translate Files Batch Task in the Projects View:
Or in the Files View:
Click on the option I've highlighted below, in the Settings page of the Pre-translate Files Wizard:
In an existing project, you can change this setting in the Project settings, then run the Pre-translate task:
I hope I've explained this clearly enough.
All the best!
Ali
