Convert file from MateCat to SDLXLIFF

Hi there,

I have been sent an itd file to translate in MateCat but the client wants the file back as an SDLXLIFF. I have finished the translation but can't export or download it. Strangely when I download the finished file, it brings up jpegs of photos stored on my laptop in some photo editor in MS Office 2010 - which has absolutely nothing to do with the translated file or the format or the software I have been using! But the file name is that of my translation. Quite random.

Do you know why this might be and how I could solve the problem? I have clicked on the 'help' message facility in MateCat and for my first query I received a reply - but this query has been met with silence. So I am seeing maybe someone on the Trados site knows, who has used both Studio and MateCat and has experience converting. I can't even download a Word file. Basically, I cannot access my finished translation, it is stuck in the MateCat system.....

Thanks!

Annabelle Skerritt.

  • Hi Annabelle,

I know nothing of MateCat. You can download support info here: MateCat support

It is interesting that the client requests translations of the same format .itd in 3 different CAT tools, when the resulting end file you deliver is going to be the same format.

    Existing memory content maybe.

Also, .itd files also known as SDL Edit documents are primarily used with SDL Trados, too, so it is only really logical to translate them with SDL Trados Studio.

    All the best,

    Ali
