Studio 2015 - OCR??? Autosuggest + AutoHotKey???

I purchased a brand new Studio 2015 license, one of the reasons was the announced OCR function. But now I´m absolutely disappointed. The results are - with one word - POOR. 95% of the "recognized" german and czech texts are unusable! I tried to recognize the same texts with a 15 years old version of FineReader, which I got with a scanner, and this ancient program has 200% better results! I really feel cheated - the OCR was one of the TOP features in the 2015-Advertisments - and it does not work at all!
Another Problem with Studio 2015: The Autosuggest function is in conflict with my "AutoHotKey"-Shortcuts. I´m using AHK for typing shortcuts, e.g. I write "fz" and get the word "Fahrzeug", or "idr" gives "in der Regel". But this does not work in the new Version 2015 when Autosuggest tries to suggest a word beginning with the same letter - in this case my AHK shortcuts does not appear, instead of my shortcut Autosuggest deletes the whole word I wrote, only the first letter remains and I get offered something from Autosuggest.  Funny is, that AHK was recommended to my by some guy from SDL 1 year ago, as I claimed, that my customized "ALT+something" shortcuts were removed by the not customizable ribbon shortcuts :-((
So much my 2-days-exprerience with STUDIO 2015.
Disappointing, that´s my first impression.

May be one question: Is there a way to import my own "autoorrect-entries" into to the AutoCorrect export file? It could solve my problem with AHK. I tried this by copying my entries into the AutoCorrect export file with the same format (each row has this format: e.g. "       <Entry src="a-s" trg="A-Säule" />"), but after the import I get this error:

Thank you for your suggestions!

  • Hi Clemens,
I agree with you, AHK is a godsend :-D
I wrote an easy script to simulate a manual adding of each autocorrect entry for my languages. It took just a few minutes to run the script for each language and it works better than my previous sophisticated attempts :-)
After a few days of using Studio 2015 I found out, that the behavior of Autosuggest is much more strange and complicated than I thought before... My English skills are unfortunately not good enough to describe it.
Maybe you could install the 30-days version of Studio 2015 and try it out by yourself. I´m afraid, SDL will not remove these bugs neither in this version nor in some future service packs (according to my experience with Studio 2014)...
    Regards,
    Adrian
