SDLXLIFF Export unknown segments as RTF files

Hello,

we need to export some SDLXLIFF files into RTF, as it was possible in the past using SDLTrados 2007. Is there a way we can do this under SDL2014?
In the 2014 version we can also "Export unknown segments", but only as SDLXLIFF format. If this is not included in the software, do you know of any possibility to do this using an external tool?

- Under 2007 we did it with "Analyse Files > Export Unknown Segments 99 > Create Export File , File Type ( we could choose RTF)

- Under SDL Studio 2014 it is the same procedure, under "Analyze Files" > "Export Unknown Segments" (but here we cannot choose the file type, it only exports into SDLXLIFF).

We have searched for this long, but couldn't find anything. Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your post and I apologies for the delay in replying.
    Unfortunately at the moment the analysis process copies all segments for which there is no translation memory match to an *.xliff file for translation.
    The *.xliff file is placed in the project's Exports folder.

    Also this file can be worked on in Studio.
    So what you could do, as a possible workaround, is this.

    1. Create this export
    2. Open this export in SDL Trados Studio and translate it.
    3. Save this bilingual.

    4. Open SDL XLIFF Converter for Microsoft Office ( it is already installed in your PC > Start > All Programs > SDL > SDL Trados Studio 2014 > OpenExchange Apps
    5. Use the converter to convert your Export to a bilingual docx.
    6. If needed open this *.docx in word > save as *.rtf.

    Hi Miriam,

    The old RTF format is no longer supported by Studio at all, not even for translation. It would make little sense to create an export like this from Studio as it's only useful for tools that have not been supported by SDL for quite some time. The translatable bilingual fileformat for Studio is XLIFF so this is what we export.

    However, if you really want RTF then you can use the Legacy Converter from the OpenExchange to convert the SDLXLIFF to a Bilingual DOC and send that out. You can use the Legacy Converter to reimport the Bilingual DOC so your SDLXLIFF is updated afterwards, so it's just a small additional step.

    I would be interested to learn why you want this old format from Studio?
