Which version of Studio? How are your settings for measurements in the TM and your project?

I use Trados 2022. I definitely needs training on TMs, TU and project settings. Trados training is so basic, and user manual doesn't exist. I have regrets having paid the whole license. I should have chosen another program.

I understand that first steps in Trados Studio can be daunting. The positive side is that you can do many things with Trados Studio.
Regarding your issue, I think the reason you are getting those matches is explained here:

If you add in to the list of Measurements in your Source language, it’ll be fine. To do so, go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation, select your TM, press the Settings button and add the word in:
There is even a way to add your French translation measurement for inches (po). It’s a bit more complex than just adding the Source measurement,:
