Maybe you have used the Finalize or Update TM tasks?

If this is not the case, Is it a project created by you? Is it a GroupShare project?

Thank you for your reply. I haven't used Finalize or Update TM tasks.

It's a project created by me, with a TM and a pretranslated xliff file both provided by the agency. This issue happens when I use the TM they provided and also when I use my own TM. After working for a while, I find all draft segments (raw machine translation output) already saved in the TM I'm using even if I haven't validated any of them.

So you have 2 TMs and the draft segments appear only in the TM provided by your client, right?

If so, you can check the creation date and the creator user of any TU and know if it was you or the client who already populated it with the draft segments content:

If it was the client, there is no much you can do, apart from disabling that TM (as you already do) and recommend your client to not update the TM with raw MT content in future projects, because it doesn’t make sense and it creates the problems mentioned by you.

As a workaround, you can untick Apply best match after successful lookup in File > Options > Editor > Automation:

In this way, content from client’s TM won’t be automatically inserted in the target segment. You’ll need to do it manually (CTRL+T, I believe). You can revert the previous settings when the project is done. It’s a kind of intrusion, so it’s better to ask the client to follow the best practices as mentioned in my previous post.

The draft segments are saved under my name, all at the same hour and minute, I suspect I'm using a shortcut by mistake that has this outcome. The problem is I can't see the actual memory matches as all draft segments are CM now. When I remove a translation unit, I can see matches. Luckily It doesn't happen often and I've learnt to deal with TM matches first, leaving the 0% matches for last. It would be nice to know why this happens, though.
