Using Microsoft Teams as a share for Bilingual Review DOCX files

Hi

I'm using Trados Studio 2021 Professional.

I've created several bilingual review documents and uploaded them to a Microsoft Teams share.

I have found that once the documents have been changed, either by using the Teams built-in Word editor or downloading and opening up the desktop Word app, I cannot reimport these into my Trados project.

It also does not work if I share via Sharepoint.

If I create bilingual review docs as before, but this time share them on a "traditional" file share (going no-where near Teams) and then editing the files using the desktop Word app, it always works.

Has anyone attempted to do the same?

Is your experience the same as mine?

Do you have any tips to make this work?

It would be a shame not to be able to utilise Teams as it's the de facto file sharing method in our company.

Best Regards

Mark

  • Hello Mark,

I understand that you're having issues reimporting bilingual review documents into your Trados Studio 2021 project after editing them in Microsoft Teams or SharePoint. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Ensure that the edited bilingual review documents are saved in the DOCX format before attempting to reimport them into Trados Studio.

Step 2: Check if there are any compatibility issues between the Word editor in Microsoft Teams and Trados Studio. You can do this by comparing the edited bilingual review documents with the original ones to see if there are any significant differences in formatting or structure.

Step 3: If possible, try using the desktop version of Microsoft Word to edit the bilingual review documents instead of the built-in Word editor in Microsoft Teams. This may help maintain compatibility with Trados Studio.

Step 4: If the issue persists, consider using Trados GroupShare or Trados Live Team for collaborative translation and review projects. These platforms are designed to work seamlessly with Trados Studio and offer online editing capabilities, eliminating the need for exporting and reimporting bilingual review documents.

Please note that the Update from Bilingual Review functionality is currently only available in Trados Studio and GroupShare, as mentioned in the context provided. For Trados Live Team, it is not required, as the review can be done in the Online Editor.

I hope these suggestions help you find a solution to your issue. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
