Error message. 'Operation must use an updateable query'

Following a reinstall of Trados Studio 2022 (17.0.6.14902), I'm unable to use Termbases as I did previously, i.e.

- Term Recognition: the 'No results available' message shows. I can perform a Termbase Search and obtain hits, however.

- Insert term translation/(Quick)Add New Term: no longer possible to add terms or edit existing terms (only the 'Delete this Entry' icon is available.

After the reinstall, I had to move the Studio folders from the original drive location because this is OneDrive and therefore not compatible with updateable databases (TMs, Termbases).

Trados Studio Termbase Viewer showing a list of terms with an error message 'Operation must use an updateable query.'

Any ideas about what I can do to restore the full functionality of the Termbases in Studio?

  • Hello,

I understand that you're experiencing issues with Termbases in Trados Studio 2022 after reinstalling the software. To restore the full functionality of the Termbases, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Ensure that you have the latest updates for Trados Studio 2022 and MultiTerm installed. You can check for updates within the application.

Step 2: Move the Termbases to a local folder on your computer, not on OneDrive, as it may cause compatibility issues with updateable databases.

Step 3: Repair your Trados Studio and MultiTerm installations. To do this, go to the Control Panel, find Trados Studio and MultiTerm in the list of installed programs, right-click on each, and select "Repair."

Step 4: Check the folder name or file path where the termbase is saved. Make sure it's simple and without special characters.

Step 5: Restart your computer and launch Trados Studio 2022. Check if the Termbase functionality has been restored.

If the issue persists after following these steps, you may want to contact RWS Support for further assistance.
