Failed to save target content: Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length.

Hello,

I get the message in object when I try to save the file as a pptx.

I have tried 'saving target as' without the target text, creating a new project / individual file, changing the location where I save files, but the problem persists. The only similar issue I found a post on was with an MIF file,

Based on the answer provided there, I am trying to remove each slide, import the source in Studio each time, saving target as, to see if I can spot the (hopefully) one slide that is causing the issue.

Since the presentation is long and full of charts (and who knows if what I am doing will be useful anyway?) are there any other suggestions in the meantime?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Cheers,

Stefania

  • Hello Stefania,

I understand that you're having trouble saving a PowerPoint file in Trados Studio due to an error message. Based on the information you've provided and the context, it seems like the issue might be related to specific elements within your PowerPoint file, such as embedded charts or complex formatting.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot this issue:

Step 1: Open Trados Studio and go to "File" > "Options".

Step 2: In the Options window, navigate to "File Types".

Step 3: Scroll down and select "Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2019".

Step 4: Under the PowerPoint options, click on "Common".

Step 5: Uncheck the option "Embedded Excel charts and sheets".

Step 6: Click "OK" to save your changes.

Step 7: Try to recreate your project in Trados Studio and see if the issue persists.

This process will prevent Trados Studio from trying to process embedded Excel charts and sheets, which can sometimes cause issues. If the problem continues, it might be due to other complex elements in your PowerPoint file. In that case, you might need to simplify your PowerPoint file by removing or simplifying these elements.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
