Trados 2015 has problems with language variants when saving terms in termbases

Hi,

I already saw this issue in Trados 2014 but it's also present in Trados 2015.

I have a termbase with about 10 languages (including language variants) I work with.

The variants being. DE-DE, DE-AT, DE-LU, FR-FR, FR-LU. Now the problem is that with a translation file for a specific language variant Trados does not save terms to the correct variant although the termbase languages are correctly mapped to the correct language code. The latest termbase has been set up in Multiterm 2015.

Say if I work in DE-DE (German (Germany)) it constantly saves terms to DE-AT (German (Austria)) whereas this project does not even have DE-AT enabled.
For a termbase without DE-AT: DE-LU (German (Luxembourg)) terms they get saved to DE-DE (German (Germany)).

Strange enought this does not happen for all projects but only in some projects.

Anyone has encountered this issue too or knows a way how to correct this?

regards,
Pascal

  • Hi Paul,

Sorry for getting back that late but I was quite busy these weeks and also ill.
I had no time yet to check this. Due to another problem with the latest release I had a free PSMA support granted last week and I asked your collegue from the helpdesk about this issue and he said that using your version is certainly a workaround but definitely not the best way to go and that I should better not try it.
But he asked me to ask you to log an internal ticket about this as he could not find any ticket about such an issue at all and it definitely needs to be addressed but for this devs would need to know about it.

    Thanks in advance.
    Pascal
