Database disk image is malformed - SDL Trados Studio 2019 Professional

Hi,

I've been experiencing problems with TMs, getting the "Database disk image is malformed" error message. I would temporarily work around it by following the steps suggested in the community (renaming the TranslationMemoryRepository.xml into TranslationMemoryRepository_old.xml). However,  the messsage started appearing again, and now the program just shuts down when I try to run it. I have tried deleting the potentialy corrupted TMs, but I still cannot get the program to run, and I don't use Autosuggest dictionaries, so the solution of deleting those would not apply in my case I am assuming. Has anyone tried fixing the TMs with the repair Add-in? The Add-in for 2019 is acrhived and no longer supported or maintained, and there is a disclaimer that the download and use is at own risk.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your translation memories (TMs) in Trados Studio 2019 Professional. It seems like you've already tried some of the common solutions, such as renaming the TranslationMemoryRepository.xml file.

If you're still encountering the "Database disk image is malformed" error, you might want to consider the following steps:

Step 1: Ensure all Trados Studio applications are closed.

Step 2: Navigate to the following location on your computer: C:\Users\[your User Name]\App Data\Local\SDL\Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

Step 3: Find the file named 'Translation Memory Repository.xml' and rename it to 'Translation Memory Repository_old.xml'.

Step 4: Open Trados Studio and check if the issue persists.

If the problem continues, you could try repairing the problematic translation memory using third-party applications. Although the SDLTM Repair add-in for 2019 is archived and no longer supported, it might still be worth a try. Alternatively, you could use the SQLite Expert trial version app.

Please remember that using third-party applications is at your own risk, and it's always a good idea to back up your data before attempting any repairs.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
