When you add files to a Trados Studio project, the software is going to try and connect these files to your project's TM. If there's a problem with this connection, if the TM isn't loaded correctly for example, then you might encounter this error.

As a test, you could try creating a new project and adding the files to it.  If the problem persists, it's likely an issue with the files themselves or with Trados Studio.  If the problem doesn't occur in the new project, the issue could be with your current project or its associated TM.

Trados Studio runs on the .NET Framework, and an outdated version might cause issues. The .NET version in use on your computer (4.0.30319.42000) is fairly old so worth updating.

Also, and this may be the first thing to check in fact, where are your TMs stored?  If your TM's are stored on a cloud service like OneDrive, it might potentially cause issues.  There could be several reasons for this:

1. File Syncing: Cloud storage services like OneDrive continuously sync files between the local machine and the cloud.  If Trados Studio is trying to access the TM while it's being synced, this could lead to errors.
   
   
2. File Availability: Cloud services sometimes store files online and not locally to save space, and these files need to be downloaded when accessed.  If Trados Studio tries to access a TM that's not available locally, it may lead to issues.
   
   
3. File Locking: When a file is open, OneDrive or other cloud services may lock it to prevent conflicts during syncing.  If Trados Studio is trying to access a TM that's currently locked, it could result in an error.
   
   
4. File Permissions: In some cases, the permissions set for cloud-stored files might prevent Trados Studio from accessing the TM.
   
   
5. Network Issues: If there are network connectivity problems, files stored on a cloud service might not be reliably accessible, causing issues for Trados Studio.

To avoid these potential problems, it's typically recommended to work with local copies of your files.  You can still back them up to OneDrive or a similar service, but ensure you're working on a local version while using Trados Studio.

Remember to sync your changes back to OneDrive once you're done working, to maintain your backup.  And always ensure Trados Studio is closed during the sync process, to avoid any conflicts or errors.

The fact OneDrive comes ready set up for most PC's these days is a real problem in my opinion, and it's not even that simple to remove or turn off!

Hi Paul,

I have the same error when analysing, pre-translating,... files. Tried to update the .NET version on  my computer but that didn't help. Do you have any other suggestions?
