File dependency error

I often get the file dependency error when I try to create the translated file from Batch Tasks > Generate Target Translations, as often as one in two projects using Studio. Most of the time, it can be fixed by just browsing the source file, but it doesn't fix this time. Also, I wonder why this error occurs so often.

I've read gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge and did all explained there.

My Studio is 2019, and I use Windows Security for antivirus on Windows 10.

The maximum embedded file size has been set to 50 MB in Option > File Types > SDL XLIFF.

The current project's source docx file (Japanese) is only 17 KB. It's not a package but prepared from New Project.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

  • Hello,

I understand that you're experiencing a file dependency error when trying to generate target translations in Trados Studio. This can indeed be frustrating, but I'm here to help you troubleshoot this issue.

Here are some steps you can follow:

Step 1: Ensure that the source file is available and in the correct location. Trados Studio needs to reference the original source file to generate the target translations. If the file has been moved or deleted, this could cause the error you're seeing.

Step 2: Check your antivirus settings. Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with Trados Studio's ability to access necessary files. You mentioned that you're using Windows Security, so you might want to check if it's blocking Trados Studio from accessing certain files or directories.

Step 3: Increase the maximum embedded file size. You mentioned that you've set this to 50 MB, but you might want to increase it further. This can be done in Options > File Types > SDL XLIFF.

Step 4: If the error persists, you might want to consider recreating the project. Sometimes, errors can occur during the project creation process that can lead to issues down the line. Recreating the project can often resolve these issues.

Remember, this error doesn't impact the integrity of your return packages or translated files. It's more of an inconvenience than a critical error.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. If you continue to experience problems, please don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.
