How to change the name that appears on each TU?

Hello! One of my clients asked that I changed the name on TUs because they will add my jobs to their TM, and they want to recognize easily which TUs I created. Is there any way to change the names in current TUs? How can I change that?
Thanks in advance!

  • Hello,

I understand you want to change the name that appears on each Translation Unit (TU) you create. Here's how you can do it:

    Step 1: Open Trados Studio.

Step 2: Go to File > Setup > Users.

Step 3: In the TM User ID Field, enter the desired name.

Step 4: Click on Ok to confirm.

Please note that this change will only affect the TUs you create or add to the Translation Memory going forward. The TUs created prior to this change will still appear as created with your old TM User ID.

Unfortunately, there's no direct way to change the names in current TUs. The user ID associated with a TU is set at the time of creation and cannot be modified afterwards. However, you can export the TUs, create a new TM with your new user ID, and then import the TUs back. This way, the new TUs will be associated with your new user ID.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
