TMs not working - object reference not set to an instance of an object - I tried all the tips I found on the forum

Hello! I have a serious problem and couldn't find any working strategies in RWS community - I already spent a week on this issue. My TMs are not working, though I have many reused segments due to the company of legal translations I get my projects from. The only sign of something being wrong is that when I add my TMs in project settings and later I want to remove them, when I tick it says "object reference not set to an instance of an object." I tried everything I found in the forum, nothing worked. I couldn't find empty segments, saved TMs as tmx, removed them from Trados TM list and remade them from the tmx files. I'm desperate. Could you please help with the issue? (I have Trados Studio 2019)

Error message in Trados Studio project settings showing 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' when attempting to remove translation memories.

(same thing happens when update boxes are ticked)

Trados Studio Translation Memory Settings window for 'Dissolution of Marriage' showing Fragment Alignment Status as off and Translation Model never built.

  • Hi  ,

Please add the full stacktrace of the error message so we can understand better the issue:

Error dialog box with red X icon, message truncated, and an OK button. Below are instructions with arrows pointing to 'Click here' and 'Advanced Editing Options' in a software interface.

Have you also tried with other different projects? Are they server-based TMs or local one, are they stored lcally or also in the cloud, like OneDrive etc?

    Regards,

    Oana

Looking at the error stack and your screenshots it's not completely clear what you're trying to do, but the error stack does suggest you might be storing your memories somewhere they cannot be found anymore.  Are you using OneDrive by any chance?

If you are maybe the information in this article will help?

    https://multifarious.filkin.com/2023/08/20/working-under-a-cloud/

The problem seems to be you're trying to access resources that Studio cannot find when it goes to the links in the project.
