Can you provide a bit more detail please?

• outline the exact process you have tried so far?
• how did you go about it?
• explain what kind of files you downloaded (file extension for example)

Also, have you tried asking your customer for the source files?  I often find this odd when people have to download the files themselves.  Your customer must be able to do this seeing as he'll need to put the translated files up there!

Hello Paul! Thaks for your prompt response. I didn't write last night because I didn't have power. I am not a computer saavy so I am not sure I can put  very well into words what I have attempted. I have really just tried copying stuff and hoping it will work. Sometimes I do that and it works. Haha.

Anyway, I tried copying the website from Google Chrome and then files i got, i dragged them into Studio like any other project. That ouf course did not work. Of course, here I got a couple of files when I downloaded, or I don't know if I can call them both files. One is the folder that ends with the extension "files". The other one is the one that has the Chrome emblem or icon. 

I am sure I tried pretty much the same thing with Edge with the same result. 

I downloaded the HTTrack application and tried with that one, the files I got were of all types. I had folders, .gif, whtt and others. I tried dragging those just for the sake of it but that doesn't work. I cannot even open the page on my computer with that. I must have something missing in my system or I am doing something wrong.

I downloades Cyotek Web Copy and when I download the webpage, all I get is a file webcopy.origin.txt. And that obviously doesn't work. 

I am not good at descifering codes and software stuff. I would like to find simple instructions that tell me drag this into here, copy this here, and throw that in Studio and start translating, but I don't think it is that simple. Can you please tell me how to do this?

It cannot be difficult to translate a webpage using Trados. I don't think you have to know programming for that. Please give me a hand with this. Thanks again for your response. I hope you can help me..

Reading your post, I’d say that it’s more difficult than you think…

The simplest way is to agree with your client what exactly you need to do, the scope, the deliverables format…

Some of my clients said that I needed to copy and paste the content into Word documents, then they will insert the translated text somehow. Some clients didn’t bother about translating meta data (keywords, description, title and so on), some others asked me to extract this content as well (and I charged accordingly). Some clients sent XML files, or Excel files or HTML files, formats that they could directly import into their system. You need to agree on something with your client, that’s the most important part, and you need to understand better the options before asking here how you are going to do it in Trados Studio. The easiest part is the last one, the Trados part, and good news is that Trados is probably compatible with whatever way your clients needs.

I mentioned some options above, but I don’t know which one your client prefers, and it’s your responsibility to know the best workflow.

Just to echo what Jesús Prieto said, you should speak to your client.  If it's helpful, and because it probably will reinforce this message, I created a short video using HTTrack (first time for me :-)) and used it to download a small website and translate in Studio.  I think the experience is probably mirroring the sort of thing that you are seeing so maybe the video will be helpful:

Well my client just gave me an article that he published in a webpage a while back and it is part of some documents he  wants translated, but he doesn't have the webpage version, he only has the url address. There is not really much text to translate but it is almost impossible to replicate the format and images it has if I am going to try to copy it in Word. And yes, I can imagine it is more difficult that I first thought. I will look closely at the video. Thanks to all of you. I really appreciate your help.

If there is some way of copying the page into a type I can work easier, that  would be fine. I don't really need to translate the webpage entirely. In your browser, select the text you need to translate, CTRL+C to copy to Clipboard, then go to Word and then press the Paste button and select the icon Keep Text Only.

This will paste plain text, without formatting, such as bold, italics, heading style.

If you don’t want to lose formatting, then paste in Word using CTRL+V and then remove whatever you don’t want/need. The exact formatting is lost in Word, but if the client agrees, you can still deliver an approximate layout with a nice translation. This is the way I do it in the Word workflow, and client agreed it was fine.

If I do that in Word, the result I get wont have the images, right? I want to keep those. But I will play with it and see what I can come up with. I don't need to replicate the page exactly, but at least it should resemble the original. 

And Paul, thank you very mucho for that video. I just looked at it but I will study it and practice with it. Yes, I think what i will need is just that index.html file with the main text. You think that if I copy that file with another name in another folder, translate the index file and insert it in the new folder, will that give me the result I am looking for? Well I will let you know because I am going to try it. I am busy with other things today but as soon as I get the chance I will try that. Thanks to you all. Take the text option Jesús Prieto mentioned, then just right-click the images in the webpage to copy them and paste them into your Word file.  Format the Word file until it looks as nice as you like and you're done.

You're welcome.  Keep in mind I don't know anything about that software so if you intend to use it I suggest you find as much documentation and maybe videos about it as you can.  It's always better to know something about the software you use and I bet there are users in here who are experienced with it and may be able to help if you have questions.
