Win 11 on Parallels - Shortcuts no longer working

Hello,

I have been successfully using Studio on Parallels for years. However, recently Windows 11 (Windows 11 Home) updated and now some keyboard shortcuts no longer work (those involving the Fn key).

For example, I am trying to change case in the target segment, which is SHIFT+F3 in Windows and hence Fn (Option) +SHIFT+F3 in Parallels. However, this no longer works (and I can't find a menu item to change this manually)

Another example: previously, Fn+Enter switched from OVR (overwrite mode) to INS (insert mode), and also no longer works. I have contacted Parallels Support but they have been useless.

If it can be of any help, on Mac I am working with Microsoft Office 365 and to change case now I have to press Option-Command-C in Word.

I am using an Italian keyboard.

  • Hello  ,

I understand that you're having trouble with keyboard shortcuts in Trados Studio after updating to Windows 11 on Parallels.

Here are some steps you can try:

1: Check your Parallels settings. Make sure that the keyboard shortcuts are correctly mapped and that Parallels is set to capture the keyboard input correctly.

2: Try resetting your keyboard settings in Trados Studio. You can do this by going to the "Options" menu, then "Keyboard Shortcuts". Here, you can reset your shortcuts to the default settings.

3: If the issue persists, you might want to try disabling the function keys on your Windows 11. This can usually be done through the system settings or BIOS, depending on your computer model.

4: As a workaround, you can try using the "Change Case" and "Toggle Overwrite Mode" commands from the "Edit" menu in Trados Studio.

Please note that these are general steps and might vary slightly depending on your specific setup. If the issue persists, it might be a compatibility issue between Windows 11, Parallels, and Trados Studio. In this case, you might want to consider downgrading to a previous version of Windows or waiting for an update that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Regards,

    Oana
