Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Once again.

I have Studio 2021.

I'm working on an alignment file. I was trying to save the file and I got the error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and I wasn't able to save it.

My deadline is tomorrow and I don't know what to do. Please help me.

  • Hi  ,

Do you still need help with the issue, or is it too late now?

In any case, looking at the exact error might give us a hint.

Please post here the full stack error:

Error dialog box with red X icon, message reads 'Failed to get project TM local TM path while there is a conflict.' with an OK button. Arrows pointing to 'Click here' and 'Advanced Editing Options' buttons in a forum post.

Also, and to complete the above, you can try the below steps:

Where are your TMs and files stored?

If your TM's /files are stored on a cloud service like OneDrive, it might potentially cause issues.  There could be several reasons for this:

Cloud storage services like OneDrive continuously sync files between the local machine and the cloud.

If Trados Studio is trying to access the TM while it's being synced, this could lead to errors.Cloud services sometimes store files online and not locally to save space, and these files need to be downloaded when accessed.

If Trados Studio tries to access a TM that's not available locally, it may lead to issues. When a file is open, OneDrive or other cloud services may lock it to prevent conflicts during syncing.

If Trados Studio is trying to access a TM that's currently locked, it could result in an error. To avoid these potential problems, it's typically recommended to work with local copies of your files.  You can still back them up to OneDrive or a similar service, but ensure you're working on a local version while using Trados Studio.

    I hope it helps!

    Regards,

    Oana
