Problems with autopropagation

I have Trados Studio 2021 Freelance.

I have completed a translation of a company’s financial statements containing an awful lot of figures and tables, and want to review it onscreen. All segments have been approved and saved, as has the entire sdlxliff document.

I make an amendment to a random segment and try to save – and get up the message ‘Auto-propagating translation’.

I absolutely don’t want to do any more auto-propagatiing, so I press cancel –

…. And I wait, and I wait.

 It doesn’t happen every time, but it is enormously time-consuming when it does.

Why does this happen, why does it happen only sometimes, and how can I prevent it happening?

(I had some screenshots in the Word document I have copied in here, but they have disappeared)

    Autopropagation settings allow you to have nearly all scenarios happen. As there are too many possible settings, you will need to test them on your PC on your own.You can find them all here:

    File -> Options -> Editor -> Auto propagation

    It is worth to play around with these settings, as they have a huge influence on your productivity and amount of work needed to translate documents. However, there is NO general settings suitable for all kind of documents and translation tasks. The only way to find out what is good or not good for you is playing with these settings.
