Add new language pair

Question

Hello! Does anyone know how to add a new language pair which was not set when I used Studio for the first time. I need to open a package with the language pair German-Japanese... Thank you very much for your help!!

If you use the Freelance version, you are limited to the five languages you selected when you first installed the software. If you want to change this, you need to uninstall and reinstall the software. 
When selecting your five languages, take care not to select two variants of a same main language, select only main languages. 
What I want to say with this is that if you select for example English US), you will still be able to use English (UK), English (NZ), English SA, as well.

Update re Studio Freelance 2019 :

Reinstalling or resetting Studio Freelance no longer gives you the opportunity to reset your 5 languages. 
 
 It is, however, possible to reset the entry in the computer Registry to do this. 
 
 You can either do it yourself, or contact Installation Help to ask them to do it...

IF AND ONLY IF you feel confident about editing the registry, here are instructions. 
 
 Follow them precisely because editing the registry is a risky business... 
 
 Editing registry to remove 5 languages from Studio Freelance version (NB not necessary with Studio Professional) 
 Close all SDL products. 
 In your 'Type here to search' window at bottom left of your screen, type 'regedit'. 
 Open the Registry Editor. 
 Either search manually: 
 The actual address is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\LDSRClient5 
 Or click on 'Edit > Find' or use Ctrl+F

In the box that appears, type 'LDSRClient5' for Studio 2017 then hit 'Find' (it would be 'LDSRClient15' for Studio 2019 -1,2,3or4 for earlier versions) 
 The search will take a while as the registry is very long and very complex:

When the registry key appears, right-click on it and select 'rename'. 
 Add 'old' to the end of the LDSRClient5 name. 
 Close the registry. 
 Open Studio and you should find that it prompts you to add your 5 languages again. Note that you don't need to add more than one variant of any language as all other variants of that language will work once it has been added. 
 Only do this if you feel confident enough to change your PC registry. If not, contact installation support here: 
 Installation support 
 Fill out the form, tick 'Installation' on the Case Type dropdown menu, explain your problem, quote this post as they may not know how to do the above, and give them an accurate email address to contact you on and they can access your computer to change that setting for you.

Hello JF Delannoy , 
 
When you originally installed SDL Studio 2017 Freelance, you will have entered FIVE languages. 
You CANNOT change the languages once installed sucessfully installed and activated. 
 
If you need to change these languages, you will need to either 
 
1) run a Studio repair 
 gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge 
or 
2) Remove Studio from the system and re-install.

If you create a new TM in the TM Maintenance window, or basically go to any menu where you are presented with your available languages, you will see which ones you selected. If you don't have DE and JP available to you then you won't be able to work on the package. 
 
A repair installation will take you through the installation process again and you can select all five available languages. This is the only way to add new languages... or do a reset. You can use this app for the rest as it will also help you understand what the different user files do and what information they hold:
