Cannot save target file - Source file not found

Good morning,

When I try to save my translation to the target file, I get the following message:

Failed to save target content. Source file not found"

This is the fourth file in a project where I have already saved the first three files.

They are Powerpoint files and I'm using Studio 2019 on Windows 10.

I can see the source file in the FR-Fr folder. I'm not sure this is an anti-virus problem, because I've never had one in the years of using Studio on the same computer.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance

Martha

  • Hello Martha,

I understand that you're having trouble saving your target file in Trados Studio 2019 due to a "Source file not found" error. I'm here to help you resolve this issue.

Based on the information you've provided, it seems like the source file might not be correctly linked in your project. Here are two methods you can try to resolve this issue:

Method 1: Re-add the .sdlxliff or Project

    1. Remove the problematic .sdlxliff file or the entire project from Trados Studio.

    2. Add it again from a different location.

    3. If the "Dependency file not found" error occurs, browse for the source file.

    4. Try to generate the target file again.

Method 2: Recreate the Translation Project

    1. Create a Translation Memory (TM) from your .sdlxliff file.

    2. Import the data from the .sdlxliff file into the newly created Translation Memory.

    3. If not all the strings are yet confirmed, please make sure you have 'draft' selected at this step.

    4. Open the source file with 'Translate Single File' and add the newly created TM.

    5. Apply 'Pre-Translate' from Batch task.

Please note, if the translation is already in the TM, you can jump directly to step 4 in Method 2.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. If you continue to experience problems, please let me know.

    Best regards,
