Trados SR2 apps update

I received this e-mail and tried to update all my apps

Customer notification – Service Release 2 for Trados Studio 2022 is now available

Important:
After installing SR2, you will need to update your apps to ensure compatibility. The easiest way to do this is by using the built-in AppStore in Studio and selecting the "Update all" button.

I am not sure about what to do next as the "One moment" look like forever.

List of apps in Trados Studio AppStore with 'One moment' loading indicators next to each app name, suggesting a delay in updating or loading app information.

I think I'm beginning to get an idea of what's happening here.  First of all note this:

App name Your Installed version Current version
    Antidote Verifier 3.0.0.0 3.0.1.0
    Cleanup Tasks 3.0.0.2 3.1.1.0
    DeepL 6.1.1.0 6.1.2.18
    Export to Excel 4.2.3.0 4.2.5.0
    Integrated Search Views 2.22.0.0 2.22.0.0
    Language Weaver 5.1.2.3 5.1.2.3
    ML.TB.2021 2.5.6.0 Not on appstore
    OpenAI Translator 1.1.3.0 1.1.3.0
    projectTermExtract 4.1.3.0 4.1.3.0
    Rapid Add Term 3.0.4.0 3.1.1.0

Five of your apps are still old versions and were not updated, and th ones you have are no longer available on the appstore.  One of them is not on the appstore at all.  I think there must be some logic in the updates to the appstore that causes this to get stuck when it can't find something.  There may be more to this, and I can reproduce the issue if I manually place an old plugin in the plugins folderand then try to update it, or if the plugin is really old just open the appstore in Studio and look at it!

In my case the updated apps display just fine, but I think yours may be either influenced by your specific situation (could be the ML.TB.2021 that should default to a bland blue jigsaw icon as it's not on the appstore) or you have a dodgy internet connection.  Given SR1 seems to work for you the internet idea seems unlikely.  But the problem is somewhere in this.

The best solution is to completely wipe the plugins folder... and this means making sure you remove the unpacked and packages folders completely because otherwise Studio can still load the older unpacked even if you have a newer plugin version in the packages folder.

  • Not working.

I have done that first on SR1 (remove the package folders and reload al lplugins), then I updated to Multiterm SR2 and then to Studio SR1.
There is still the "One moment".

I have redone that on SR2 (remove the package folders and reload all plugins)
I have redone that on SR2 (remove the package folders and reload one plugin Antidote)
I have redone that on SR2 (remove the package folders and reload another plugin CleanUpTasks).
There is still the "One moment".

    I am reverting to SR1.

I see your reply and it's not completely clear but I think you have not done what I asked... or at least it's not clear to me.

remove the package folders and reload all plugins

What exactly does this mean?  Did you copy the plugin back into the packages folder, or did you upgrade to 2022, without any plugins there and only then install them by using the integrated appstore?  So at no point did you manually copy a plugin into the packages folder?

If you do this you may find some plugins are not available yet and you won't find them in the list in the appstore.  The reason for this is that they will not work with SR2 until we have released an SR2 version.  So if you try to solve it yourself by copying the plugins you had previously you'll introduce a problem.

    Just checking!

We're working on a fix at the moment, but the fix will just remove any plugins that are not compatible... or at least tell you they aren't so you know why they get removed.

    My reply was flagged again?

Yes... it sees them as duplication of text which is a sure sign of spamming.  Just unlucky because your sentences were quite similar.
