Problem with opening a project package in Studio 2015

I received a project package from a translation agency (they received it from another client and they could open it without a problem - I think they use Studio 2014 Professional). Anyway, when I try to open or import the package, I get this message:

  • Hi Katja,

It looks to me as though either the package is corrupt or some background process on your machine wiped the temporary files from your machine while it was opening the package.  Presumably you tried this more than once?

If you like you can send me the package and I'll check this in Studio 2015 first and then we can look at other reasons?

    Regards

  • Hi, Paul.

After working with other files perfectly fine, I am now facing the same problem. The agency sent me a package to translate (as per usual) and it does not open. The message I get is the same as the one I posted in my first message. If they send me only the sdlxliff file, it opens fine, but I can't import the package. The agency uses Trados 2011 and I use 2015. When my colleague tries to open the package, it works fine (she has 2011 version), but I can't. I don't know where the problem is, because this doesn't happen with other packages. The agency does not allow me to send files, so I can't show it to you. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
  • Hi Katja,

It's going to be hard to resolve this if we can't see the files and reproduce it!  However, maybe you can try the following:  Download and install this app from the OpenExchange:

It's called the Package reader.  Open the package with this app and see what language are contained in the package.  Are they all language relevant to you?  Might be a red herring, but without the package I'm just guessing why you might have a problem.

Worst comes to worst you can add a .zip to the package name and open it.  Then take the sdlxliff files out of the folder related to your languages and just handle the files.  If there are termbases or TMs also in the folders you can take them out and use them too.

    Regards
