Error Message - The method or operation is not implemented.

Question

Has anyone seen this error message before - 'The method or operation is not implemented'? It's showing up when I try to export the target file. The original source file is an idml, and I'm working in Trados Studio 2014. The origin is 'Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Filters.Idml.FrameworkImpl.Writer.CFileWriter'. I have tried exporting the translated file from Trados in a number of different ways, and tried recreating the project from the original source file, with no success. Any ideas about why this extremely general message is appearing, and how to resolve it?

Hi Katherine,

Just want to close this off. The one thing I didn't mention is that if there are tag errors in the file due to missing tags in the target then this can also cause a problem. In this case the problem was a missing tag which was correctable using Studio 2014 after running a QA check. I sent you the target file and an explanation of the problem.

If you open the source and immediately save as target does it work? So will the process work even if you don't translate anything? 
 
Also have you got the latest updated version of Studio 2014? It should be SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2 11.2.422.11 
 
If the file won't process, and if you have the latest version installed then your best bet is to contact the support team via the solution finder and they can try and resolve this for you. In the meantime I can try in 2015 if you need to rescue the translation?

It means there is either a problem with the source file, or a problem with the IDML filetype for Studio 2014. I'm sure the support team will be in touch soon, but in the meantime I'll test it in 2015 and se whether this helps.
