Hello, I'm just translating a PDF File. And I wonder : will I be able to export a Word File fisrt (optimizing style and fluency of the French editorial translation) ? I'm asking because I usually make changes in my translation in Word and I use the Retrofit functionality to update the TM. Thanks! Best, Pia
It is always better to convert a PDF using a decent OCR solution like Abbyy FineReader for example. But if you use Trados Studio, you can convert the PDF automatically in this software and then use File -> Advanced Save to save the converted source file (untranslated) as Word, adapt formatting and tidy it up, before translating this Word file afterwards.

Hello Jerzy, Thank you. I use SDL Studio 2022 to translate directly the PDF. I watched a video showing that it is possible and I wanted to try it. And i believe in the tremendous functionalities of the software! :D I will of course export a PDF file too as a final file. My question was about the possibility to export à Word File even if I translate a PDF?
Do not overtrust ANY automated PDF conversion. This may or may not work or the results will not meet your expectations. Dealing with PDF is always a very tricky business.
But yes, you will get a Word file, when converting a PDF with Studio. So your translated target file will be Word, not PDF.
