Segments are merged and not added after modifying a 100% match. Is this customizable?

Hi everyone,

It looks like when I modify a 100% match segment and I confirm it, the modified segment is not added as a new TU in the TM but merged to the original segment (with custom fields being added).

I would like to keep both versions in my TM : the orginal TU that was found as being a 100% match and a new TU with my modifications (and new custom fields).

Is this possible? Can I customize this behaviour in the settings?

Thanks a lot for your help and have a good day.

  • Hello,

Yes, you can customize this behavior in Trados Studio. Here's how you can do it:

Step 1: Open Trados Studio and go to the "Options" menu.

Step 2: Navigate to "Editor" -> "Automation".

Step 3: Uncheck the box that says "Update TM with confirmed segments".

Step 4: Click "OK" to save your changes.

Now, when you modify a 100% match segment and confirm it, the modified segment will be added as a new Translation Unit (TU) in the Translation Memory (TM), and the original segment will remain unchanged.

Remember to run the "Update TM" batch tasks to apply the fields as required, as mentioned in the context.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
