Have an issue with an idml file not opening up in Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.10.19084 where fellow translator just had Windows 11 installed.
It is giving the error message "This file type is not supported". Under File Types Adobe InDesign IDML under Common the checkbox for "Process unsupported file versions" is checked and still getting this error message.
Any idea why this is still causing issues and not letting the idml file open?

Did you have that option checked before you created the project?
Did you create the project with a project template that had that checked?
Are you sure it's an IDML file? Only asking as there was a post a short while back that mixed up InCopy and IDML and may have been making changes to the wrong settings.

The most simple explanation is, that you checked this option in a different set of settings, like in File -> Options while using a project approach with a template. The other possibility is, that there are functions used in InDesign, which prevent the file type from reading the file.
This was created as a single translation. Did double check that the checkbox for unsupported was checked and tried opening up as a single again and still got the error message. Had just installed Trados into this translator and I am the person who sets up each translators Trados settings including this IDML setting.
Yes, it is an idml file. I am able to open the file in my Trados. However, I am running under Windows 10.
Please make sure, that you have this option checked in your default project template. Go to File -> Setup -> Project templates and edit the one marked in bold. The setting for the single file approach MUST be present there. Having this done via File -> Options does not guarantee it working properly for projects and single file translations. Only settings in project templates do work always, depending on the project template used.
If this checkbox is set and you still cannot open the file, please RESET the file types to default and check this option again. For some reasons it is possible, that this Trados Studio installation is utilizing an old file type.
I will review all the settings again as you suggested.
However, will not be using any older file types since this is a brand new laptop and first time with Trados on it.

I do not think this to be an issue with Win11. All my machines have Win11 and I am using the most recent InDesign. Nonetheless I was able to open an IDML file exported on my machine in Trados Studio.
Should all the actions bring no success you have still 2 possibilities: create a SDLXLIFF file on your machine and give it to the fellow translator. Or provide me the file for testing, if possible. You can have any necessary NDA from me for this and I would immediately remove the file after testing.
I went back to the File Type settings and unchecked than checked the Process unsupported checkbox and working.
