mrk tags inserted although 'Add segmentation info in the translated file' checkbox is disabled

I have worked with the same xliff settings for many months and never encountered </mrk>. Now it's my second round of translating files imported via Fluenta and some of my </xref> tags turned into </mrk> tags. I've checked the settings and can't see anything I should change. Grateful for all kinds of advice!Screenshot of Trados Studio options menu with XLIFF settings expanded showing various settings such as 'trans-unit' segment locked display, including startend tags in segments, and tag text for XLIFF tags options.

You don't mention what version of Studio, which could be interesting, as I cannot reproduce this in 2024.  However, in 2024 the xref attributes get removed completely.  The reason for this, I think, is that the <source> and/or <target> elements within the XLIFF file cannot contain <xref> elements according to the XLIFF 1.2 specification.  It seems that <xref> is not a valid child element within these elements.  The XLIFF specification expects certain inline elements like <g>, <bpt>, <ept>, <ph>, <it>, <mrk>, <x>, <bx>, and <ex>.

I can't reproduce what you have properly since you didn't provide a sample file, and could be the schema validation I have fabricated to test is wrong for your file type.  So if this is still a problem for you please provide a small sample file containing a couple of segments only that help to demonstrate the issue.
