Error message when trying to open a usual SDLXLIFF file

Hello,

So far I have used the free 30 days trial version and never had any problems. Now, I have purchased the Starter Version and cannot open a simple SDLXLIFF  file. When I click on "translate a single document" and want to open the file the following error message appears (in German, so this is my own translation into English)

This project cannot be opened in the Studio version you are using. This project uses a translation source that is not supported in the Studio version you are using.

Is it possible that I cannot open a simple SDLXLIFF file (522 KB) with the Starter version? Unfortunately, the live chat was not very helpful. Can you please help me? It is kind of urgent ... :/

Thank you so much in advance!!!

  • Hi Walter,
    Thanks for your help! It is "Standard-Projektvorlage für neue Anwender" (Standard project template for new users). I tried to delete it, but it cannot be deleted. I tried to reset all settings, but it did not help. I still cannot open the file.
  • Hi Andreas,

    Can you delete your template folder and then restart Studio?

    c:\Users\[YOUR_USERNAME]\Documents\Studio 2015\Project Templates\

    This will recreate your templates and ensure you are using the appropriate templates for the version of Studio you are using. If this doesn't help I recommend you log a case via the solution finder and a support engineer will help. Go to the Knowledgebase;

    http://kb.sdl.com

    Then go to the tab called Solution Finder ( http://kb.sdl.com/?cid=23&tab=sf ) and now go here;

    Download & Installation Problems
    - I use SDL Trados Studio and/or SDL MultiTerm 2009, 2011, 2014 or 2015
    -- The installation went fine but now I get an error message etc
    --- The problem occurs in (pick the appropriate tool/s)
    ---- None of the articles resolved my problem (if they didn’t!)

    Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

    Regards

    Paul
