An unexpected error has occurred while loading the application plug-ins

This happened after the installation of an update for a plugin, so it obviously is a plugin problem. I followed the suggestions in the article https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000014282 to rename the Plugin folder and renamend the folder C:\Users\Katrin\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\16\Plugins-old. I'm not sure whether this is the right folder since in the article the pathes are indicated only for the 2019 to 2021 versions. In any case the problem still exists. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help, I'm clueless and need to work

Katrin

  • Hello Katrin,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Trados Studio plugins. It seems like you've already taken some good steps to try and resolve the issue. However, if the problem persists, you might want to try the following steps:

Step 1: Ensure that all RWS applications are closed.

Step 2: Navigate to the correct folder for your version of Trados Studio. Since you're using Trados Studio 17, the path should be: C:\Users\%User Name%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\Trados Studio\17

Step 3: Rename the Plugins folder to Plugins_old. If this doesn't work, you might want to try deleting it.

Step 4: Open Trados Studio and check if the issue still persists.

Step 5: If the error message doesn't appear, you can proceed to reinstall the plugins you had before.

Please remember to reinstall your plugins one at a time, checking Trados Studio after each installation. This way, you can identify if a specific plugin is causing the issue.

I hope this helps! If you continue to experience issues, please don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.

    Best regards,

    RWS Community AI
