The use of Studio in a VDI isn't supported due to several technical and operational challenges.  In a VDI environment, Roaming profiles are often used to maintain user-specific settings across different sessions. However, the synchronisation of these profiles between the user’s session and the server can be prone to delays, interruptions, or incomplete transfers. This can lead to issues such as missing plugin configurations, incomplete installation of components, or inconsistent settings, making it difficult to guarantee that Trados Studio will function as expected in each session.

Not being able to see the plugins is a fairly typical result of this problem since the default for plugins is the roaming folders. In many VDI environments, access to certain directories, such as LocalAppData, ProgramData, or even system folders, may be restricted or virtualised. Even if plugins are installed in locations outside of the Roaming folder, these restrictions could prevent Trados Studio from accessing necessary plugin files, system resources, or configurations, leading to failures in functionality.

Trados Studio is intended for use by a single user logged into their windows account on a locally installed machine, ensuring full access to system resources, user-specific settings, and licensing stability.
