Object reference not set to an instance of an object - Trados Studio 2019

hello everyone, I really appreciate your help.

I use Trados Studio 2019 (15.2.8.3007) and for various reasons I can't upgrade now, I have to find a solution that works in 2019.

I was working on a project and successfully translated abour 20%, when it started returning an error every time I wanted to mark a segment as translated. Error details in the picture attached. I read a suggestion to reset the window view, but it didn't help. This error turns up no matter which segment I want to mark as done. I doubt there is a problem with the source file, because I was able to work through a big part of it before the error started occurring. None of the solutions I read in the community forum here were applicable here.

Is there a way I can solve it?

Screenshot of Trados Studio error message window. The error reads 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' with a red cross icon. The window shows a stack trace with multiple references to Sdl.TranslationStudio.Editor and system event handlers.

  • Follow this steps in the given order until a solution is found. Restart Studio after each step:

    • Go to View tab and use "Reset window layout"
    • Go to File -> Setup -> Manage user profiles and reset the profile
    • Go to File -> Setup -> Manage user profiles and change user profile. Do not backup anything. In the last step click "Browse" and navigate to the installation folder of Studio on your HDD, where you will find a subfolder called "User profiles". Chose the one with the same name of your previously used profile and let this one be overwritten with the one from that folder.
    • Go to View tab and use "Reset window layout"
    • Use the steps described here: https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001414

    If nothing helps, return here.
