Error "Only Exception type is allowed"

Hello,

When trying to create the target file, the Error "Only Exception type is allowed" is displayed. The master translation memory is updated without any error.

Any ideas? Thank you very much in advance. I am using Trados Studio 2022 Professional.

  • Hello Marcel,

The error message you're encountering, "Only Exception type is allowed," is typically related to a formatting issue in your source or target file. The context suggests that there might be a problem with the time format in your file. Here's how you can resolve this:

Step 1: Open your source file in an appropriate editor (for example, if it's a .docx file, use Microsoft Word; if it's a .srt file, use a text editor).

Step 2: Look for any time formats in your file. They should be in the format of hours:minutes:seconds, milliseconds. Make sure there are no deviations from this format.

Step 3: Correct any inconsistencies you find. For example, if you see a time format like hours.minutes.seconds,milliseconds, change the periods to colons to match the correct format.

Step 4: Save your changes and close the file.

Step 5: Try to create the target file again in Trados Studio 2022 Professional.

If you continue to experience issues, it might be helpful to check the error details for more specific information about where the problem is occurring in your file.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Marcel,

If the issue doesn't occur with other Translation Memories in different languages, it's possible that the problem is specific to the language settings or the specific Translation Memory you're using.

    Here's what you can do:

Step 1: Check the language settings for the problematic Translation Memory. Make sure they match the language of your source and target files.

Step 2: If the settings are correct, try creating a new Translation Memory for the same language pair and see if the issue persists.

Step 3: If the problem is resolved with the new Translation Memory, it's possible that the original one may have become corrupted or contains some errors. In this case, you might want to continue using the new Translation Memory.

Remember, it's always a good practice to keep your software updated to the latest version to ensure optimal performance and bug fixes.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
