Term adding not working from inside Trados Studio 2024 - 18.0.0.1013

Dear All,

I cannot add terms to my termbase from inside the Editor of Trados Studio 2024 - 18.0.0.1013 – the shortcut does not work and the function is greyed out:

Screenshot of Trados Studio 2024 interface showing a list of terms. A right-click context menu is open with options like 'Copy', 'Paste', and 'Add New Term', where 'Add New Term' is greyed out indicating it is not selectable.

Any ideas?

Best regards,

P

  • So if that happened all of sudden, check the changes in your product. I use the same version of Studio and am able to add terms with no hassle.

Did you install any add-ins recently? Maybe you installed RAT? Or there is a shortcut conflict (happens when RAT is installed, as the natiove CTRL+SHIFT+F2 stops working due to being double assigned).

Otherwise I would go the usual way (obviously one by one, followed by Studio restart):

    • remove the TB from the projects settings, close Studio, reorganise TB, restart Studio and add TB again
    • reset window layout
    • reset user profile
    • load user profile from backup
    • load a completely fresh user profile
    • as last resort: gateway.sdl.com and articöle 1414

I must point out that I recently had problems with adding any termbase to Trados as explained here. I was finally conacted by Trados Support who took a long time fixing the problem but did succeed at last. However, this new problem must have occurred at the same time, or else, a pre-existing problem must have been left unfixed.

Fresh user profiles are here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio18\UserProfiles
Resetting does not really mean the profile is "clean".

It is very advisable to create a backup copy of your customized user profile and store it in a place outside of Studio's reach.

The mentioned article is here: https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001414
Unfortunately, someone there had the idea to have Google search active instead of product filter (second position) and since then no one is able to find articles by number, if  this person does not change the search setting.
