Custom XML Preview in Studio 2024 CU1 not working - did anything change?

Hi Trados Team,

I notice that my custom XML preview does not work any more in Trados Studio 2024 CU1. I can open the preview pane and click "generate preview", the progress bar completes, but then Studio freezes. No error message.

I can unfreeze Studio using the Task manager and terminating the sub-processes "Edge WebView2". There are usually four such sub-processes, but when I terminate one of them, the others disappear as well and I can keep working with Trados.

The XSLT script used to work fine with earlier versions of Trados Studio 2024. Did anything change in CU1 which could have caused this?

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the operating system you are using and any recent changes you have made to your system. Also, if possible, share the XSLT script you are using.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Daniel,

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with the custom XML preview in Trados Studio 2024 CU1. This could be due to a number of factors, including changes in the software or issues with the XSLT script.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your Trados Studio is updated to the latest version. The context suggests updating to Trados Studio 2021 SR2 CU9, but since you're using Trados Studio 2024 CU1, please check for any updates within the application for this version.

Step 2: Try to run the XSLT script in a different XML editor to see if the issue is with the script itself.

Step 3: If the script works fine in another editor, the issue might be with Trados Studio. In this case, try reinstalling the software to see if this resolves the issue.

Step 4: If the issue persists, it might be helpful to revert to an earlier version of Trados Studio where the script was working fine, if possible.

  • I tried using a different connection to the network (Ethernet instead of WiFi). With the Ethernet connection, it works. How can that be possible?

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about your network settings and the specific differences between your Ethernet and WiFi connections.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It's interesting to note that your issue with the custom XML preview in Trados Studio 2024 CU1 is resolved when switching from a WiFi to an Ethernet connection. This could be due to a number of factors:

    1. Network Stability: Ethernet connections are generally more stable and reliable than WiFi, which can be affected by many factors such as distance, obstacles, and interference from other devices. This stability might be necessary for the smooth operation of Trados Studio.

    2. Network Speed: Ethernet connections usually offer faster speeds than WiFi. If the custom XML preview feature requires high-speed internet to function properly, this might explain why it works with an Ethernet connection.

    3. Firewall or Security Settings: Sometimes, different network connections can have different firewall or security settings. It's possible that your WiFi connection has a setting that's interfering with Trados Studio's operation.

To confirm if the issue is indeed network-related, you could try using your WiFi connection in a different location or with a different network and see if the problem persists.
